Effective June 5, 2026, Oregon hospitals must adhere to the following:
- Maintain written procedures for responding when law enforcement arrives
- Name at least one supervisory administrator to handle those situations
- Designate non-public areas, including patient rooms and access-controlled spaces.
Hospitals and federally qualified health centers also may not retaliate against employees who share state-published materials about immigrant rights or immigration legal services. In addition, information about a person’s citizenship, immigration status, or country of birth must be protected like health information and generally can’t be shared with law enforcement unless required by law or court order.
