The Paperwork Burden Reduction Act provides an alternative method for eligible employers to provide Health Insurance Statements to their employees. Employers can furnish IRS Forms 1095-B and 1095-C only upon employee request, as long as advance notice was provided to all employers.
This legislation passed the House on June 21, 2023, and now has moved to the Senate. If passed in the Senate, the alternative method would go into effect for tax year 2024 and forward for Affordable Care Act (ACA) returns. It only applies to employers who are liable under the ACA to provide these statements to employees.
