Under House Bill 3187, employers in Oregon received additional clarification on age-related non-discrimination requirements. It goes into effect on September 28, 2025.
Significant changes include the prohibition of an employer, employment agency, or prospective employer from requesting any of the following information from an applicant prior to completing an initial interview or making a conditional employment offer:
- Age
- Date of birth
- Dates of attendance or graduation from an educational institution (unless that information is required to affirm that the applicant meets the qualifications or to comply with a provision of a local, state, or federal regulation or rule)
Additionally, expansion of lactation protections is provided under House Bill 2541. The protections now extend to agricultural workers.
Eligible Oregon employees may use paid sick time to make a blood donation in connection with a program accredited or approved by the American Red Cross or American Association of Blood Banks.
